As a composer or publisher registering your music through UniteSync, you are eligible to receive publishing royalties in line with each society’s distribution schedules. While societies typically report and distribute royalties on a quarterly basis, UniteSync operates monthly royalty payouts.
This means that once royalties are received and processed by UniteSync, they are included in the next available monthly payout, rather than waiting for a fixed quarterly payment cycle.
How monthly payouts work at UniteSync
Societies usually distribute royalties quarterly.
UniteSync processes incoming royalty statements on an ongoing basis.
Royalties are paid out monthly, within 30 days after they are received and processed by UniteSync.
If royalties from multiple societies are received in different months, they will be paid out in separate monthly cycles accordingly.
What to expect when you first register your catalog
It is important to note that receiving your first royalty payment can take time. In most cases, initial payments arrive approximately 6 to 9 months after registration. For some foreign societies, this timeline can extend to 12 to 18 months. This is standard across the global publishing industry and applies to all publishers and administrators.
This delay occurs because songs must be registered, matched, verified, and reported by each society before royalties can be distributed.
At UniteSync, our royalty team works continuously to process incoming royalties as soon as they are received, ensuring that all cleared earnings are included in the next monthly payout.
